Stop AB 1383

A CA lawmaker under the influence of government unions has proposed yet another bill to expand retirement benefits. AB 1383 would boost pensions for safety employees without requiring sufficient funds to be set aside to meet those promises. That is the same lethal combination that has already crushed CA governments (eg, LA already spends 18% ($2b) of its budget on retirement costs and Newsom’s proposed budget shows the state spending $18b in 2026 on retirement costs, 2x more than a decade ago and 10x more than in 2000).

Govern For California is opposed to AB 1383 and has sent letters of opposition from 370 members of our network to the bill’s author and co-authors, the Assembly Appropriations Chair and the Speaker of the Assembly.
