CA’s Political Poker Table

Recently a super-successful friend told me he met with Eric Swalwell and thought Swalwell wouldn’t be bad as governor. My friend and I are very close friends, so he wasn’t offended by my response: “You’re a fool if that’s what you think.”

I continued: “If Swalwell becomes governor, your taxes will continue to go up, schools and other government services will continue to deteriorate, unaffordability will continue to worsen, and pitchforks will be at your gates because government unions and progressives will continue to unfairly blame rich people like you for those problems.”

I don’t play poker much but when I do, I know I am the fool at the table. My friend doesn’t realize he’s the fool playing at a political poker table against super-sharp and highly-motivated political insiders such as Lorena GonzalezDavid GoldbergDavid HuertaCarmela Coyle and other leaders of rent-seeking organizations that reap the lion’s share of the $500 billion in state and federal funds the governor appropriates every year. They know exactly what they are doing — which is why they endorsed Swalwell. If you want more of the same, support Swalwell.
