Bearstar’s Bearhug
99.9% of Californians have never heard of Bearstar Strategies but 100% of Californians have been manipulated by that political firm for years. Bearstar is the political consulting firm behind Gavin Newsom and other establishment California politicians who excel at advancing their political careers by acting like populists while doing the bidding of non-populist special interests (see e.g., Newsom’s Donors). This year, Bearstar is supporting Xavier Becerra for governor.
Bearstar’s candidates have one big thing in common: They have no policy agendas of their own. You can prove that to yourself by asking where Newsom or Becerra would be without Donald Trump. Without Trump to criticize, what do Newsom and Becerra stand for? Without Trump, the focus would be on the fact that, after nearly eight years, $4 trillion of spending and thousands of new laws, nothing in California is better than it was when Newsom took office. Without Trump, everyone would be asking why anything would be any different under Xavier Becerra.
Firms like Bearstar treat California voters as pawns. Should Becerra win, expect no change.
